Great product, it is VERY tight out the box by design, but it self clearances to a very good retention level after you cycle the tool in and out a couple dozens times. The full armored version is designed to be pressed out from the bottom opening and and then grabbed from the top, it's great if you are looking for maximum retention while working in various enviroments. The build quality is amazing. Wouldn't think twice about buying again or recommending to someone who wants the maximum protection/storage/retention and wants to support the creator and manufacturer behind these awesome products!
It holds the Leatherman tight enough for confident carry and still provides easy one-hand removal. The horizontal carry position prevents digging in to my side and is comfortable with a tucked or untucked shirt.
Bought for an ARC Leatherman. I purchased the armored full version. For the high price, I expected to have a case that fit perfectly out of the box. That was not the case, and beyond that, no amount of my modification will change that.
First off, sliding in or out is so tight on the scissor edge/side of the tool that it wears the paint off. I guess that also says something about how rough the finish is. Aesthetic only, but still super annoying.
Next, there is no positive "click" that we all love from plastic holsters. The ARC stays put mostly from friction (again, aesthetic wear mentioned above). This means that both putting the tool in and out of the holster is super annoying if it's on a belt or anything worn because it takes so much force that it's going to move whatever you're wearing. Not to mention along with being slow and awkward and near impossible to do with a single hand.
The "locking" mechanism (if you can call it that) also engages the blade spring locking mechanism on the ARC, which is not ideal since it places mechanical force on that spring. Maybe it will add to the wear on the tool, maybe it won't, but it certainly doesn't help.
Next, the bit extender holder was so small I couldn't fit it in the place. I had to Dremel and use sandpaper to expand the bottom (closed portion) of that space. Same thing for the bit holders- I had to use sandpaper to get the fit better.
All in all, for a $67 piece of small plastic I wouldn't order again.
The product fit and finish is excellent. Fits conveniently and comfortably on my belt and is barely noticeable during the course of my workday, but there when I need the tool(s).
The only problem was with USPS. The item arrived in the local Georgia post office, but instead of completing the final two miles to my house took off to Michigan. It finally arrived and seemed no worse for wear and travel.
Botton line, this is a good product if you want to conveniently and comfortably carry your Leatherman ARC with you. I recommend it without reservation.
Slick!!!
