I am writing to formally document the fitment and quality issues with the carriers I purchased and to clarify why the closed-face unit is not usable.
I purchased two carriers: one open-face and one closed-face. The open-face carrier performs as expected. It provides a proper interference fit, seats correctly with the Alpha in the intended MagnaCut blade-out orientation, retains the tool securely, and allows normal insertion and removal without abnormal force.
The closed-face carrier, however, does not meet basic functional or dimensional requirements:
Fitment and Interference Issues:
The Alpha would not seat at all in the closed-face carrier as delivered. After careful and minimal material removal using fine filing and light chisel work, I was eventually able to get the Alpha to seat with the MagnaCut facing outward. Even after this modification, the thumb tab scrapes against the internal barriers, indicating a dimensional or tolerance stack-up issue in the carrier geometry.
Operational Usability:
Even once seated, the Alpha cannot be inserted or removed in a practical manner. Removal requires excessive force, to the point that the carrier is not usable in normal service. This indicates the internal profile and/or retention features are incorrectly sized or positioned.
Laser Work Misalignment:
Additionally, the laser work to install the ruler previously added to the Alpha is mislocated by approximately one inch from the intended position. This is a clear manufacturing or layout error and further confirms the unit does not conform to expected quality or dimensional control.
Quality and Support Concern:
Despite these issues, at no point was a replacement of the defective unit proposed or offered. The unit was delivered in a non-functional condition, and no corrective action on the manufacturing side has been mentioned.
In summary: the open-face carrier functions correctly and meets expectations. The closed-face carrier does not meet basic functional, dimensional, or quality standards and is not usable, even after careful end-user modification attempts.
Please advise how you intend to address this non-conforming product (replacement or refund).
