It may also fit other polar scopes, measure your scope to find out.

The adapter fits directly to the scope, there is no need to use a second adapter.
It secures to the polar scope using either three M3 x 6mm or #4 x 1/4" screws. (Not included)

I recommend using the 6mm thumbscrews that are normally sold for use with computer cases.

The easy way to install the screws is to drive them using a power drill, the spinning of the drill will heat the screw due to friction, and once heated they will self-tap the nylon plastic.

Each screw tightens up against a special internal nylon tab. This prevents metal-on metal contact or damage to the polar scope finish.

The nylon material can be dyed or painted.

  • Dying:
    • Rit Dye or any Nylon fabric dye may be used.
    • It is not possible to make the colors brighter with dye.
    • Black, Dark green, Dark Red, Dark blue may be achieved
  • Painting:
    • Any plastic compatible paint may also be used, apply in very thin light coats until completely covered. Heavy application may affect tolerances.
    • I have found Ace Hardware Matte Enamel paints to work particularly well.

Natural grey color -vs- black dyed

    polar scope adapter

I struggled to find a right-angled finder for my iOptron Skyguider Pro, and had resigned myself to either continue struggling to view through my polar scope, or attempting to make my own {which became more tricky, the more i researched the idea}.
By chance i stumbled upon a ZapWizard video, which had exactly what i was looking for...and i ordered one straight away.
I already owned an old Olympus Varimagnifier R/A finder, which i was wanting to mount onto my polar scope, and hoped this adapter would fit this specific R/A finder...which it did {perfectly}.
I had already a small pack of 8mm M3 thumb-screws in a drawer, so i was able to attach the adapter to the scope immediately it arrived.
The adapter is excellent value for money, and very nicely made...and will certainly last me a very long time.
Because this adapter is NOT a thick-walled alloy tube, it should not be over tightened on the scope {to preserve the life of the internal threads}, but because it is very light, it is very secure with minimal tightening of the thumb screws.
I leave two of the thumb screws in their tightened position all the time, and just use the third thumb screw for tightening and un-tightening the adapter, when needing to use the polar scope/ adapter combination.
Certainly one of my very best accessory purchases.

    small things add up

The adaptor is sturdy and well made. Good fit on both the 90 degree adaptor and the scope. Glad I picked red, more visible at night.
