Shapeways Bankruptcy Impact

Dear valued customer,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to inform you of an unexpected development that affects our operations and your orders. Recently, Shapeways, who produces most of my 3D printed products, has declared bankruptcy. You can read more about it at the links below.

This news comes as a surprise to me as there were no indicators that they were stopping operations other than their Shopify plugin suddenly no longer taking orders.

Shapeways has been an integral part of my supply chain, providing high-quality 3D printing services that we relied on to deliver our products to you.

This does not affect items fulfilled by other partners such as PC Poodle's flashlights, Prinity shirts, or unique items such as the Stainless Steel comb.

I understand that this situation may raise concerns about current and future orders, and I want to address these directly.

Impact on Your Orders

  1. In Production Orders: If you placed an order before July 1st then your order may still yet be processed. It is unclear at this point, but currently their online system still shows these orders as in production.  Please be patient as I wait to see if these orders are fulfilled. I will refund any unfilled orders only if Shapeways doesn't finish processing them.
  2. Orders placed after July 1st (Orders # 4764 and higher): The Shapeways portion of these orders will be canceled and refunded soon. I hope that you will return to place a new order once I can find a new 3D printing supplier.
  3. Future Orders: I am committed to maintaining the quality and reliability you expect from Transitioning to a new supplier will take some time. I have several prospects but each will require validation. In the meantime parts will be listed as out of stock on the website. I do have some limited stock of a few items, and will list those on the website in time.

I have used them for over a decade without many issues. Please be patient as alternative vendors will require validation, prototyping, and re-alignment with my business.
